Site Preparation and Footers
Sites across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are excavated to precise depths and dimensions based on local soil and grade conditions. In house surveyors use robotic total station technology to ensure exact placement on each lot, reducing layout risk and alignment errors. Footers are formed and poured first to establish a stable base for the foundation walls.
Formwork Setup
Heavy duty aluminum foundation forms are assembled to shape the walls. Forms are carefully braced and aligned to produce straight, plumb walls that meet structural requirements common to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky builds. Window openings, door openings, and utility penetrations are boxed out within the form system.
Reinforcement
Reinforcing steel is installed inside the forms to increase tensile strength. Vertical and horizontal rebar are tied together according to engineering specifications and local building standards to ensure long term performance.
Concrete Pouring
Ready mix concrete is delivered to the job site and placed using pump trucks for controlled, even distribution. Concrete is poured in staged lifts to manage form pressure and maintain wall integrity. Mechanical vibration is used to remove air pockets and ensure proper consolidation throughout the wall.
Finishing and Curing
Wall tops are leveled and finished to the required height. Anchor bolts and connection hardware are set while the concrete is still workable to support framing. Forms typically remain in place for 24 to 48 hours, while full concrete curing continues for approximately 28 days.
Waterproofing and Backfilling
After initial curing, waterproofing and backfilling begin, typically within seven to ten days depending on site conditions. Foundation walls are coated or wrapped with waterproofing systems suited for regional moisture and soil conditions. Drainage systems such as drain tile or French drains may be installed at the base to manage groundwater. Soil is then carefully backfilled once the walls have reached sufficient strength.
